Traffic lights on an intersection is currently the most common way to direct traffic. It has been the most reliable but causes also a lot of delay since it works on intervals and causes unnecessary stops in the traffic flow.
To increase the effectiveness of traffic flow we must upgrade our current systems which would behave according to the surrounding environment.
Our system works on the logical basis of “First in, First out.” This means that our control unit detects drivers and pedestrians decides on who will get green light first. Our intersection control unit will monitor the traffic flow and make changes so the flow of the traffic would be best.
However, each intersection control unit can be programmed to prioritize vehicles or pedestrians.
This creates a system that will provide the most efficient flow of traffic while not taking any shortcuts on safety.
